Summer holidays...
Summer holidays... peace at last! No longer are my lie-ins spoiled by the shrieks of children passing my house on their way to school. No longer do I have to stagger the dog's walk time to avoid schoolchildren (since some of them are scared of big dogs - especially the Asian boys, for some reason).
Of course, the parents among you are probably having the opposite experience!
Hope everyone is enjoying the summer.

This isn't meant to be rude and there is no particular need to 'publish' this on your blog, but generally speaking much of what you have posted comes across to many of us who are experienced governors as naive (some of the comments about vertical grouping, for e.g.) or potentially difficult territory (Asian children and dogs, for e.g.). The idea of this sort of blog is quite interesting, but I wonder if it might be better some time down the line. There is not too much here that governors would recognise as the nitty-gritty of what we do.

I know what you mean, and I suspect that's because I'm not a very experienced governor (yet)! I do find people's comments very helpful.
I was also aiming (as you can probably see from the first few entries) to tell others what a governor does, rather than specifically aiming it at other governors because of course there is nothing I could teach them - at this stage I can only learn from other governors, and indeed other school stakeholders.
I read quite a number of "career related blogs" such as those of paramedics and policemen, and as an outsider I find it interesting to learn about what they do, while I know they also strike a chord with others in their own profession. That's what I'd like to do with this, and I'm sure over time it will develop.
Thanks very much for your comment.
